COE is pleased to announce winning a contract to provide a major upgrade to the surveillance over three lines of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway in South Korea. Seoul Metropolitan Subway serves over 8 million journeys daily in, and around the capital of South Korea. This project, to provide a comprehensive upgrade to the surveillance activities over lines 1, 3 & 4 of the network, is yet another large contract with South Korean partner, Dong Young.
COE's rich history of providing highly reliable, fully redundant networks to the rail sector was a key factor in the successful project bid for Seoul Metro, as was COE's abilities to engineer best-fit hybrid network solutions, leveraging the benefits of both optical fibre and IP Ethernet transmission technologies. The company's strength in this area was augmented by the expertise of South Korean systems integrator Dong Young, who will provide the installation of equipment for this major project.
The system to be installed will bring the capacity of the network over the three lines to over 8,000 cameras, with real-time analogue video being instantly viewable at any of three control centres around the network through the implementation of Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) technologies.
Through utilising CWDM and integrating other new products by COE, including the X-Net OPT-ETH module (8 channels of analogue video plus IP Ethernet services), the fibre infastructure around the network is highly optimised. This provides a cost effective and highly functional means for simultaneous transmission of analogue video, intelligent video analysis technologies (X-Net VI), IP Ethernet services (e.g. IP cameras) and more.
