COE Ltd, the leading developer and supplier of IP integrated video surveillance systems, today announced that is has it completed the latest extension of the surveillance systems at the urban community of Strasbourg.

As well as providing surveillance for Strasbourg city centre - the Capital of Europe - this system monitors the European Parliament, the Strasbourg Championship League stadium, the SNCF station and several hospitals.   Control rooms are provided for the local police and the stadium in addition to the master control room for the urban community itself.

Andrew Wallace, the CEO of COE, said "this system has grown to around 300 cameras and 70 control positions since when we first installed it in 2003. New locations and sub-systems have been added throughout this period and COE's single software environment now supports and interfaces with all these systems including:

  • numerous separately optimized presentation and control systems in separate locations such as the stadium and the police
  • different recording systems
  • video content analysis

These systems all communicate and synchronise through COE's single software interface (SDK).  The SDK also supports several generations of COE systems and can run COE's latest H.264 products as well as MPEG-4.

M. Antoni (Head of Service Prévention Sécurité) said, "We have worked closely with COE over the last 4 years and they have shown commitment to support an increasingly advanced and capable system.  The single software environment which they have used is particularly powerful in enabling these extensions which are much more than we had envisaged in 2003.  The CUS has significantly influenced crime in Strasbourg through the use of CCTV, and we will continue to be a leader in France in the application of CCTV on IP".
