COE Ltd won a contract to provide a hybrid IP digital and analogue video CCTV system for all 51 stations over the North-South and East-West Lines of Singapore’s MRT system.
Project brief
A refurbishment program for Singapore’s MRT system created the opportunity for a comprehensive CCTV upgrade to a hybrid digital IP and analogue system to expand.
Analysis
Singapore MRT required a highly sophisticated 1,100 camera CCTV system based on IP digital video technology, with a distribution of cameras of between 20 and 50 per station. In order to manage this number of cameras, local operators control their own station complex with a central Operational Control Centre (OCC) having an overview of the entire system for emergency and general monitoring.
Solution
In order to provide a flexible solution that met the project budget, COE designed a dual layer switched hybrid analogue - digital IP system utilising COE Telecommand management system and COE IP codecs. Each of the 51 stations and 3 depots are managed by a Telecommand-II control and video matrix linked to a dual ring 1 Gb LAN structure for core transmission. A special LCD keypad was designed to enable full control of the CCTV cameras and Quad image display.
Benefits
- Flexible, expandable system design
- Cost effective dual layer switching architecture
- High quality, low latency, video image transmission
- Seamless integration with existing infrastructure enabling fast migration to new system
- Complete transmission, control and management solution from one vendor
